  • BBC Two has reportedly ordered more Cunk On..., the show starring Diane Morgan as Philomena Cunk
  • Three specials are being lined-up for this year: Cunk On Punk, Cunk On Modern Art and Cunk On Jane Austen

BBC Two has reportedly ordered more episodes of Cunk On..., the comedy format in which Diane Morgan plays documentary presenter Philomena Cunk.

Ben Dowell has revealed that the format will return for a new series of specials at the end of the year.

Details are still being finalised, but "the plan is to make three episodes".

Punk music, Modern Art and author Jane Austen are said to be the topics that are being considered for episodes that would be titled Cunk On Punk, Cunk On Modern Art and Cunk On Jane Austen.

Diane Morgan first played the clueless and error-prone Philomena Cunk on Charlie Brooker's Wipe shows. Having proved popular as a 'talking head', the character's remit was then expanded to also present a Moments Of Wonder segment in which she'd deliver pieces to camera and also interact with experts in an attempt to explain a subject.

The first full half hour special, Cunk On Shakespeare, was broadcast in May 2016 as part of the BBC's celebration of the playwright, with the festive special Cunk On Christmas following at the end of the year.

Philomena Cunk was most recently seen in a 6 minute special for Comic Relief, in which she investigated the concept of charity.

2017 looks set to be a busy year for Diane Morgan. She is currently fronting British Famous, a comedic advertising campaign promote the idea of visiting the UK. She is also set to film a full series of new sitcom Motherland, and is working on a sitcom with Maxine Peake. She is also returning to performing in a live setting, and is set to appear at Festival No. 6 in Wales in September as part of a programme curated by Peake.
