  • All Round To Mrs Brown's has been recommissioned by BBC One
  • The entertainment series will return in 2018 with another 6 episodes
  • More than 5 million people per week have tuned in to watch Series 1

BBC One's latest entertainment format, All Round To Mrs Brown's, is to return for a second series.

The news was announced tonight as Series 1 concluded its six-week run. The next series will consist of a further six episodes, to be broadcast early in 2018.

Mixing elements of the smash hit sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys with celebrity guests, chat, audience participation, cooking, games and music performances, the series is set in the Brown family home in Dublin, and ostensibly centres around Cathy Brown's own chat show.

Creator and star Brendan O'Carroll says: "The whole family are thrilled with the reception the show has received on Saturday nights. Although our focus right now is on the Christmas Specials of our regular Mrs Brown's Boys show, we are excited that 2018 will see party time at the Browns' house again."

The first five episodes in the series attracted an average of just over 5 million viewers in overnight ratings. Consolidated figures, including a repeat broadcast and catch-up views through iPlayer, are understood to be significantly higher.

All Round To Mrs Brown's is a co-production between the O'Carroll family's company, BocPix, and Hungry Bear Media.

Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content said in a statement: "All Round To Mrs Brown's has been a huge hit for BBC One on Saturday nights. I am delighted Mrs Brown will be opening her home for a second series, with her unique blend of fun and mischief."

Alan Tyler, Commissioning Editor BBC Entertainment said: "It's rare to find a show that is so loved by the audience, but that is simply testament to the genius of Brendan's creativity. With All Round To Mrs Brown's, Agnes, Cathy and the family threw open their doors and created one of the funniest entertainment shows on television. We cannot wait to see which guests grace Mammy's sofa in the next series."

Dan Baldwin, Managing Director of Hungry Bear, says: "We are absolutely delighted to be working with the Brown family and the BBC again on All Round To Mrs Brown's. Agnes Brown has the canny knack of saying the mischievous things we're all thinking... but wouldn't dare say. I cannot wait to see who will be doing the dishes in Agnes's kitchen, being interviewed by Cathy and singing in Foley's in series two!"

All Round To Mrs Brown's Series 2 will be recorded and broadcast early in 2018.
