Comedy Central has ordered a pilot show from social media star Ben Phillips.

Phillips has over 8 million Facebook followers and nearly 2 million YouTube subscribers who enjoy watching him pranking people, primarily his long-suffering friend Elliot.

His previous stunts include replacing Elliot's hair gel with super glue and putting Viagra in his sports drink.

The 22 minute pilot, which will air on Comedy Central this spring, is currently titled Ben Phillips Blows Up. The pilot will feature Phillips and his circle of friends playing a prank on Elliott, only for it to "backfire with hilarious consequences."

Notably, as part of the development deal with Phillips, Comedy Central has also been given the exclusive online rights to the prankster's back catalogue of content, which will be housed, alongside other original digital short form content, on the channel's website.

Ben Phillips says: "I'm very excited to be working on this fantastic new project with Comedy Central. I can't wait to show our amazing fans a different side to us all and, of course, put poor Elliot through even more hell - Sorry Bro!"

Louise Holmes from Comedy Central comments: "Ben is an ingenious prankster and we were keen to bring his world and all its well-loved characters like poor Elliot and Farmer Chris to the TV screen. He's a huge star with a mass army of loyal followers - we are very excited to be working with him."
