David Walliams has joined the voice cast of hit CBeebies series Teletubbies.

It was revealed today that he will be one of the Voice Trumpets in the second series of the revived childrens' show.

The Voice Trumpets, which are dotted throughout Teletubbyland, resemble speakers and rise from the ground to talk after events or performances.

David Walliams says: "It's really thrilling to be asked to take part in Teletubbies, it's such an iconic show and it's watched all around the world by millions and millions of children, it was just too good a thing to turn down."

Walliams will join the existing voice cast of Jim Broadbent, Fearne Cotton, Jane Horrocks, Daniel Rigby and Antonia Thomas for episodes in the 60-part new series. Pop star Rochelle Humes is also joining the show.

Kay Benbow from Cbeebies says: "We are thrilled to welcome David and Rochelle to join the fun in Teletubbyland. The series has already attracted a stellar cast of British talent and David Walliams and Rochelle are no exception. We can't wait to hear how their distinctive voices and personalities add another layer of fun and magic to the show."

The new series of Teletubbies will start on CBeebies this spring, marking 20 years since the original show first appeared on British television. The new series will feature a new 'beautiful hidden glade' called the Hidey Hup featuring equipment for 'physical Teletubby fun' such as Tubby Bouncy; plus the show is introducing a new 'honk honk' Tubby Car.
