BBC Two is to pilot Second Opinion, a comedy science show presented by Dr Xand van Tulleken.

The producers explain: "Second Opinion is an exciting new comedy science pilot for BBC Two; a digest of medical stories from the last year, looking at news reports and press coverage with comic charm and journalistic rigour. Expect comedy, sketches, hidden camera stunts and studio games as well as frank interviews and genuine scientific revelation."

Dr Xand van Tulleken has signed up to front the show. Viewers will be familiar with him for his presenting work with identical twin brother Chris. Both qualified doctors, as a pair they have appeared on shows including Horizon and Frontline Doctors and have presented over 50 episodes of Operation Ouch!, a CBBC series about the human body.

Second Opinion will be recorded in front of a live studio audience on Friday 25th November 2016 at The Hospital Club studios in London. Apply for tickets

Executives from the BBC will use the pilot to decide whether to order a full series. News on whether the show will become a TV series is expected in 2017.
