BBC Two's new sitcom White Gold will see The Inbetweeners co-creator Damon Beesley team up with Joe Thomas (aka Simon) and James Buckley (aka Jay) again.

White Gold, written and directed by Damon Beesley, in set in a double-glazing showroom in Essex in 1983.

Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick takes on the lead role of Vincent in the six-part series. Smart, handsome and cocksure, Vincent will happily break the rules if it guarantees a sale. The show is described as "a story of dodgy shenanigans, scams and petty rivalries - alongside free-flowing drugs, cash and sex".

Ed Westwick says: "I am very excited to be stepping into the world of White Gold. It's brilliantly crafted and very unique, a special piece. I'm sure a great road lies ahead."

It is not yet known which roles Thomas and Buckey will take on, or who co-star Lauren O'Rourke (Drifters) will play in the six-part series.

BBC commissioner Shane Allen, who worked on The Inbetweeners whilst at Channel 4, says: "I'm delighted to be back in the ring with Damon as I absolutely adore his writing. These characters jump off the page and get you in a headlock. The story-telling combines raucous knockabout humour with a really powerful and emotionally engaging undertow."

Damon Beesley, who is making the show with his production company Fudge Park, comments: "I would like to thank the BBC and Shane Allen for giving us this glorious opportunity to recreate the Essex of my youth - a time before the invention of 'Essex girls' jokes, fake tan or TOWIE. A time when having double-glazed patio doors installed meant you were winning at life. It's hugely exciting to work with such a talented, brilliant cast and quite frankly I can't wait for shooting to start."

White Gold will be filmed in Essex this autumn, for broadcast on BBC Two in 2017.
