  • Ten hour long episodes of the show will be broadcast later this year
  • UKTV says the format will cast Bishop "in a whole new light"

John Bishop is to host a new TV interview series.

UKTV has ordered ten hour-long episodes of John Bishop: In Conversation With..., to be broadcast later this year on W, the channel previously known as Watch.

The network explains: "Each week, John will be joined by a household name to discover the person behind the public persona in a series of intimate and revealing one-on-one interviews."

It adds that the series will "showcase John's unique approach to interviews and cast the comedian in a whole new light".

John Bishop: In Conversation With... is being produced by Lola Entertainment, the comedian's own production company which has previously made shows such as John Bishop's Christmas Show, John Bishop's Only Joking and John Bishop's Gorilla Adventure.

UKTV also announced today that W has commissioned I've Got Something To Tell You, a reality show hosted by Amanda Holden in which "ordinary people make extraordinary confessions over dinner, drinks or a simple cup of coffee".

Talking about the two formats, UKTV commissioner Richard Watsham says: "These fantastic series demonstrate our ambition for W, both in terms of the extraordinary level of talent that we're delighted to be working with, and also the breadth and originality of the programmes themselves. These are two very different, very exciting propositions but together they should start to create a coherent and consistent tone of voice for W's smart female audience."
