Rob Brydon is set to host a BBC Children in Need special which will poke fun at Sir Tom Jones.

The BBC confirms: "BBC Children in Need is delighted to announce that Welsh music legend Sir Tom Jones and fellow countryman Rob Brydon are joining forces for a spectacular night of music and entertainment, all in aid of disadvantaged children across the UK."

The concert, which is due to take place at Wembley Arena in October, will "take an affectionate and humorous look at Sir Tom's remarkable career so far."

Producers confirm that the show will feature "both live and pre-recorded comedy pieces depicting some of the many lively moments of Sir Tom's illustrious musical career."

Alongside the comedy will be various musical performances, both from Jones and his band, and "some very special guests."

Rob Brydon says: "I am delighted to be hosting what is set to be a fantastic evening of music and comedy, two of my favourite things! It's not unusual for Sir Tom to go above and beyond when it comes to putting on a show, so I have no doubt this will be one to remember, and all for a fantastic cause."

Sir Tom Jones adds: "It really is a great honour to be working with BBC Children in Need this year. I hope this night of entertainment will not only be a fantastic experience for those who come along, but will also go on to help disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK who really do need our help. I look forward to seeing you there; it is set to be an amazing night!"

BBC Children in Need Chief Executive, David Ramsden, says: "Sir Tom and Rob are going to put on a show to remember, and of course, it'll make a huge difference to young lives in the UK."

The concert takes place at The SSE Arena, Wembley, on Thursday 8th October. Tickets are available from bbc.co.uk/pudsey. The resultant programme will be shown on BBC One in November in the run up to Children In Need night on Friday 13th November.

This news follow's last night's broadcast of Rob Brydon At 50, a documentary on BBC One Wales focusing on the comedy career of Brydon. The singer was one of the contributors appearing on the programme to discuss Brydon's comic talents.

Tom Jones and Rob Brydon have teamed up a number of times before, most notably in 2009 when, with Ruth Jones, they performed (Barry) Islands in the Stream, a song linked to Gavin & Stacey and Comic Relief, which went to Number 1 in the singles chart. Below is the music video:
