The BBC has ordered another episode of The Incredible Adventures Of Professor Branestawm.

RadioTimes.com has revealed that the show will return this Christmas for another one-off special.

Based on Norman Hunter's classic books, with scripts adapted by Charlie Higson, the new TV version featuring the character launched last Christmas. Broadcast on Christmas Eve, the family-friendly special set in the quintessential English village of Great Pagwell, attracted an audience of over 3 million.

Harry Hill is due to reprise his role as the eccentric inventor, with Vicki Pepperdine returning as his housekeeper Mrs Flittersnoop and Simon Day back again as Colonel Dedshott.

Although the magazine doesn't confirm it, additionally Madeline Holliday is likely to return as the young Connie, with David Mitchell as councillor Harold Haggerstone, Adrian Scarborough as the local Vicar, and Ben Miller as unscrupulous businessman Mr Bullimore.

The Radio Times says: "Branestawm mark 2 is expected to follow in the footsteps of last year's show which saw The Fast Show star Charlie Higson distill Norman Hunter's classic children's books into a 60-minute drama."

The Incredible Adventures Of Professor Branestawm is made in-house by the BBC, with Benidorm and Harry & Paul's director Sandy Johnson at the helm.
