Vic & Bob have revealed in an interview that they are thinking of touring the UK this year.

In a chat transcribed by Time Out magazine, Bob Mortimer said "we'll probably do a tour this year", adding "I think we'll dip our feet in the water, and see if people are still interested".

Vic Reeves then confirmed their intentions, however added they didn't yet have any thoughts on what the format the shows would take, saying "We don't know what it's going to be yet."

The double-act have been working together for 25 years, having met in the late 1980s on the South London comedy circuit, before moving into television. In 2011 they announced they would return to live comedy, however the planned Leeds-based shows never materialised. In this new interview today, Reeves explained they didn't go ahead because they couldn't afford it, saying "it ended up costing too much".

However, the duo now seem to have a renewed appetite to try and make the finances work out. Mortimer told interviewer Ben Williams: "If we wanted to do a show where we've got desks and Greg Mitchell Labradors and Judge Nutmeg Chariots and all that stuff, it's expensive. So we're wondering whether people might like to just see us two - we dunno!"

However, the comedian then added: "It'd be nice to do House of Fools in the West End", to which Reeves replied, "That'd be fun."

House of Fools, the duo's new BBC sitcom, returns for a second series next week. Talking about the show, Mortimer said: "We try to make it a bit theatrical - we come out and sing to camera. I'm not sure we get it right, but it's our way of trying to make it feel like you're having the same experience at home as the studio audience."

Shooting Stars, the double act's long-running surreal panel show, was axed in 2011. Asked this week if they thought it could ever return, Mortimer said: "I've got a feeling, yeah. There wasn't any ill will - they had these massive cuts. I always think it could come back."

However, adding a note of caution, he explained: "It's expensive, which doesn't help in the pecking order. But the last series was great. It's good fun meeting celebrities, seeing what they're like and that."

Reeves added: "They were really good fun. We'd rehearse long, long hours because there were loads of pre-records, which you don't get in any other panel show."

The full interview - in which the comedians also talk about how their comedies influenced others, and how they've never argued in their 25 years working together - can be read on TimeOut.com

House of Fools returns to BBC Two on Monday 16th February at 10pm. Here's the trailer:
