It has been revealed that Russell Howard is working on a romantic comedy project.

Few details are currently known, however the stand-up star has written and will appear in the one-off comedy.

The news was revealed by his sister Kerry Howard in an interview with Digital Spy.

Kerry, a star of shows including Him & Her and Reggie Perrin, said of her brother: "He's written something - I can't really say what it is but it's a one-off... a rom-com kind of thing."

She added: "It's brilliant and I'm going to be acting with my brother for the first time, so that will be really cool."

This will mark Russell Howard's first foray into acting. The comedian has previously said he's not sure he is a very good actor.

In April 2013 we reported how Russell Howard was in the early stages of writing a film about "a bloke who falls in love with his family again". It is unclear but seems unlikely that this is the same project being alluded to today.

Kerry Howard is now starring in new sitcom Give Out Girls, and has started writing a new sitcom for BBC One with her Him & Her co-star, Sarah Solemani.

Russell Howard meanwhile is about to start hosting a new series of Russell Howard's Good News, now promoted to BBC Two.

The comedian has also signed a major deal with Comedy Central that will see him fronting two major new shows for the channel. The first will be broadcast in mid-2015.

Below is the trailer for the new series of Good News, which starts on Thursday 23rd October.
