Stand-up comedian Joe Lycett is to host the pilot episode of Junk, a new comedy format for BBC Three.

The programme, which is a cross between a game show and a stand-up show, sees three comedians aiming to win bits of 'junk' donated by members of the studio audience.

Producers describe the programme as "the show that challenges a selection of the UK's best new comedians to earn treasured pieces of tat by being as hilarious as possible". The programme will also reward "some incredible clutter" to one 'lucky' audience member.

Joe Lycett (pictured) was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2012 for his stand-up show Some Lycett Hot. He has also made various appearances on television and radio.

In 2011 he was a signed as a regular panellist for the short-lived E4 show Dirty Digest and starred alongside Alexander Armstrong in BBC One game show Epic Win in the same year. His more recent TV appearances include Celebrity Juice, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Appearing alongside Lycett in Junk will be character comedian Jamie Demetriou (2525, Anna & Katy). His role is billed in the blurb as the show's "junkyard guardian".

The pilot episode of Junk will be filmed at Wimbledon Studios on Tuesday 11th March. To apply to be in the audience see our free tickets page

Producers are also currently looking for some "banterful people" to take part in the show and interact with the comedians on stage. To apply to be contestant fill in the form on SRO Audiences

The pilot episode of Junk is not expected to be shown on TV. Instead it will be used internally at BBC Three to decide whether to commission a series.
