Paula Wilcox (Man About The House) stars in this comedy series depicting the complicated life of Elizabeth Jones, a young woman bringing up her baby alone at a time when single mothers faced widespread disapproval and prejudice. Written by Richard Waring (...And Mother Makes Three) and produced and directed by Peter Frazer-Jones (Man About The House, Robin's Nest), Miss Jones And Son was the first British sitcom to depict a single mother.

In this second series, Elizabeth and former neighbour Geoffrey say their sad farewells, with new tenant David Laurence a thirty-something widower taking on the empty flat. Elizabeth takes an instant liking to her new neighbour, but the necessities of making ends meet threaten to sabotage the budding relationship; the moneymaking schemes that Elizabeth and her equally cash-strapped friend Rose try to implement include setting up a crèche in Liz's flat, leaving David noticeably unimpressed...
