As Elizabeth Jones tries to come to terms with the realisation that she is about to become an unmarried mother, she must also brace herself for the negative reaction of her parents.
2. Baby Talk

Elizabeth is starting to realise what impact looking after a very young baby has on her social life. She also finds that she is unable to take on any work unless it involves doing it from home.
3. A Kid For Three Fathers

Great Aunt Bronwen is about to arrive from Wales in order to welcome the new arrival to the family. At 84 and with Victorian attitudes, Elizabeth feels the need to find the baby a proxy father - who will, of course, double as a suitable husband.
4. For What We Are Not About To Receive.....

Bringing up a baby single-handed has left Elizabeth with little opportunity to earn an income. She also finds she is too late to apply for supplementary benefit and the Health Visitor seems less than impressed with her. To top it all the local unmarried mothers' society want her to carry a banner on a protest march!
