Tom Ellis: Miranda will return - but I don't know when

Miranda star Tom Ellis has said he has no idea when the hit BBC One sitcom will return to our screens, but he knows it has to happen.

Series three took a couple of episodes to find itself but, once it settled into the story of Miranda's relationship with nice Mike, conducted when she'd really be with even nicer Gary, it flew. It's delightfully at easy with its own uncoolness, and more cleverly written than its detractors would allow. Check out the dizzying comings and goings of episode five, building up to a hot cameo by Gary Barlow.

It's not really my cup of comedy tea but let's be fair, BBC1's Miranda ended its latest run on a pretty good cliffhanger. Miranda was left with three options: marry Gary, marry Mike, or run away to the Scottish Highlands by herself. I'd go for option three, Miranda. It's wild and dangerous terrain up there. Think of all the things you'll be able to trip over.

A great end to an up-to-scratch season, Miranda never fails to cheer up an evening, reminding many of us that we aren't alone in the everyday awkward situations that we might find ourselves in.
