In tonight's show Bishop talks to fellow comic Jimmy Carr, and his various ups and lows he has had to face; appropriate for a man who has in the past described himself as having literally the biggest face on television.

Well liked by the public, an all-round sound fellow with his charitable works, John Bishop's genial and empathetic persona makes him a solid interviewer, as this continuing series proves. Although his comfort in the spotlight means he can occasionally steamroll his guests. Comedian Jimmy Carr can be a cagey interviewee but, you suspect, Bishop will broach the whole "Cambridge-educated tax-avoider" thing.

The Liverpudlian comic returns to W with his third interview series, starting with a fellow comedian: David Walliams.

It is pretty rare these days to find a show in which two people simply talk to each other for the best part of an hour. So, while this is fairly basic chatshow fare, it's still refreshing viewing. Tonight's third series opener features David Walliams subjecting himself to Bishop's insistent interrogations. They cover the swimming and cross-dressing but also, with admirable and appropriate earnestness, Walliams's depression.
