With her annoying sister Joan safely packed off home, Edith is thrilled when Phil announces that Jack Dugdale has made an offer on his house and he has accepted.

Now they can get on and plan their future together, starting by setting a date for their wedding. However, it transpires that romance is in the air for more than just the one couple.

Roger, Georgie and Bob attend a children's party, but are soon sent packing, while the family's portrayal in Wendy's book continues to cause angst.
