Gary's fictional job with Ron may cover his trips back in time to 1941, but it's not much help when both Yvonne and Phoebe expect him for dinner on the same evening. For love to find a way, he needs more than a little bit of luck, and a very large stomach.

Yvonne is in line for promotion, and Gary suspects that he is only holding her back. Life in 1941 seems more and more appealing, and Gary feels it may be time for him to make a choice, even if that means faking his own suicide. But then banjo-wielding George Formby rears his head in the past.

Yvonne thinks she may be pregnant. Phoebe wants Gary to go to the country with her for a couple of days to visit her orphaned cousins. An American flyer comes into the picture, and the attraction between him and Phoebe is obvious. But Gary rescues the situation with a musical rendition that literally sweeps her off her feet.
