First pay packet, some light police baiting and the potential to foil a crime right under his nose. Life is busy for our Fletch. But things are rarely what they seem and Fletch's journey on the straight and narrow may be about to be cut short.

Fletch has settled into his new job and receives his first pay packet. He takes it home to his loving family who waste no time in relieving him of its contents.

Later, at work, Godber pops in to try to tell Fletch that he and Ingrid are planning to marry, but Fletch thinks he's spotted an old scam and takes steps to foil the crime. By the time he realises he's made a mistake it's too late to put things right and it seems that all Fletcher can do is wait to be caught and sent straight back inside himself.

Will the thief's conscience get the better of him, or can nothing save Fletcher from another long stretch?
