Series 1, Episode 3
takes a witty look at how maths underpins everything around us. Dara takes on comic Jason Byrne
in a problem-solving challenge.
Dara O'Briain is back trying to solve the problems that Oxford University maths professor, Marcus du Sautoy, throws at him.
Helping him this week is comedian, Jason Byrne, and the theme of the show is to demonstrate how maths can stop you getting screwed. Literally, not physically...
Problems include figuring out how many bankers it takes to unlock a vault if no two bankers can open the vault, but any three can. Can Jason teach a bunch of bankers the safest way to look after their money?
There's also a game of "chilli roulette", in which Jason must take it in turns with Marcus to eat either one, two, or three chocolates, but with both of them trying not being left with a spicy chilli to eat at the end. It's a bit of a mouthful, but never let it be said maths isn't hot stuff.
