BCG was invited to send over some questions to Count Arthur Strong. This is the email we got back...

Hi Arthur. Did you have a good Christmas? What did you do?

I minded my own business.

Did you hand out any copies of your memoirs as presents?

Do me a favour. They're not for giving away those! People are buying my wonderful autobiography of myself (Through It All I've Always Laughed, £7.99 ono) as an investment. Those books can change hands for a not inconsiderable amount on the 'black market'. It's a first edition you know.

Michael has finished writing his book, so how comes he's still hanging around with you?

Good question. I think it's because he's learning a lot from me. I'm quite a wise person and, in many ways, I think he looks upon me as a mental - or mentor, whichever is the correct word and most flattering. By the way 'comes' is sloppy grammar.

Do you find Michael annoying, or is he nice company?

Well you know, to me, Michael is like the son I never wanted - but had. You see I was a friend and colleague of his dad, the comedian - if you can call him that - Max Baker and I remember Michael from when he would soil his nappies. In fact at an early meeting he once urinated on the floor. So you can see we go back a long way.

You're still frequenting Bulent's Café, despite in your opinion the service not always being up to scratch?

I don't know where you've got that idea from? There could be some improvements, yes. Like reduced rates for regulars and all day free teas and they could get some beer on draught and a snooker table and a dart board in there. But really I'm like an ambassador for the place. Actually they ought to be paying me a wage. I'm going to mention that to Bulent now you've put it in my head.

We're hoping to visit the café sometime for something to eat. What should we order?

Well, you're spoilt for choice really. Pick a number from one to five. I generally stick to a number three but I would think, from your questions, that you're more a number two type of person? That's what's coming over. Actually I am psychic, and you wanting an extra sausage that a number two would bring is coming over quite strongly.

We're speaking on email. How are you getting to grips with modern technology?

Berry qell thSnk yoi. I,ve allways been GOood with techcoloGy.

We're going to be seeing your friend Barry Cryer later this week. Do you have any messages for us to pass on to him?

Yes! You can ask him if he's got that emulsion paint yet and, if he hasn't, tell him he shouldn't say he can get things he can't! It's ridiculous how long I've been waiting for that. Tell him I'll go somewhere else for it if it's not here by this afternoon.

What are your plans for the rest of the week?

Well I don't like to plan too far ahead. In my line of work there's always something unforeseen cropping up. Like Easter for instance. That's the exciting thing about 'show business'. One day the telephone could ring and that evening I'll be somewhere doing something I knew nothing about before it rang. I just go with the flow me.

Finally, have you got any TV or radio acting projects coming up that the public will be able to see/hear? We'd love Nicholas Parsons to book you on Just A Minute...

Well thank you very much. When are we recording it? You see that's just what I was saying! At the beginning of this I didn't have any work on and now I'm in Just A Minute, which I think I adore... if it's the one I'm thinking of? Is whatsis face in that, off the other one? Willie Rushton? Will they send a car? Who shall I talk to about the money? What did you say your name was again?

Count Arthur Strong would like to thank his assistant Steve Delaney for helping to set up this interview, and for the sandwich.
