Hi-De-Hi! was one of the most successful sitcoms of the 1980s. It ran for nine series with regular audiences of 16 million, winning a BAFTA for Best Comedy Series in 1984.

This documentary pays tribute to the show. Over 90 minutes, it tells the story of this much-loved sitcom - showing classic scenes and interviewing cast and crew as we learn the show's secrets.

We discover that Butlin's, the real-life inspiration for the series, was not impressed with the show. We find out how iconic characters like Ted Bovis and Gladys Pugh were cast - and how cleaner and wannabe yellowcoat Peggy was brought to life by Su Pollard.

We also discover backstage secrets, such as the day several cast members nearly drowned in the swimming pool, and Su Pollard tells us the very rude word she taught the pet parrot at the cast hotel. Also, the cast pay tribute to the late great Simon Cadell - and we learn why he decided to leave the show at the height of its success.

We revel in the funniest scenes, revisit those unforgettable characters and reveal some shocking truths in never-before-seen interviews. This is the real story of Hi-De-Hi!.

Featuring interviews with Su Pollard, Ruth Madoc, Jeffrey Holland, John Thomson, along with never before broadcast interviews with Paul Shane and Jimmy Perry.
