Jane's having terrible trouble at work as secretary Val keeps on turning up late - if at all - and very distracted. Eventually she admits to struggling to get by on her current salary, but there's a palaver to go through first. Meanwhile, Jane and Laurence are attempting to split their belongings, whilst his relationship with Indira continues.
