Infrequently Asked Questions 2013

We've had a few questions since we relaunched, so just to clear them up in case anyone else was wondering:

1) Although we're now accepting scripts for stage, TV and radio, we're only accepting the scripts, not films, videos, virals, radio recordings or bribes. Ok, we lied about the last one.

2) The best way to find out how long 15 minutes lasts is to read the script out loud and time it. Or to read it out loud when the half-time whistle goes at a football match and see if you're still reading when the teams come out for the second half.

3) We'd prefer it if you could upload the script to us as a PDF or Word document. Well done if you've got Final Draft, please use the 'save as PDF' facility on it.

4) You can enter as many scripts as you like and opt to receive feedback on all or any of them as you so desire.

5) As we'll be doing a rehearsed reading, you can have as many characters as you like, including characters with only a few lines. However, remember that we'll be doing 15 minute sitcoms and we want to see your recurring characters as much as possible.

6) Please, please, please read the rules and guidelines before you enter. No, really - you wouldn't believe some of the emails we get.

7) Only the four scripts performed in the industry showcase are subject to the 12.5% development fee clause. Rule 10 states: "This agreement will expire on the date 18 months from the date of the show's performance at the Sitcom Mission industry showcase."

8) We'll be working with the four finalists and developing their work so that it's in its most marketable form. Whether that's for TV, radio or online will depend on the script and be decided further down the development road.

9) We've decided to open up the Silver feedback service again, so if you want feedback on your script and then have a chance to rewrite it before the closing date, you can. This service closes on March 14 and is available via the entry form.
