We are delighted to announce the winner of this year's Sitcom Mission Grand Final, which was judged by a panel including some of the most important people involved in comedy commissioning in the UK, including the comedy commissioners from BBC, ITV and Comedy Central and the heads of comedy from Channel 4, Sky TV and BBC Radio Production...

The winner is Bryn Mills, whose sitcom Thunderer (pictured) was set in the world of early 20th-century Fleet Street. He says: "Everyone at Thunderer is surprised and delighted to have won this year's Sitcom Mission against such a fantastic line-up of finalists. Thanks to Declan and Simon at Every 1's A Critic for their herculean efforts in arranging this amazing forum for writers and performers."

David Fynn, who directed and starred in Thunderer, added, "This competition has given us such fantastic opportunities and we have made a lot of great contacts. It's a fabulous breeding ground for young writers, actors and directors."

The Grand Final was attended by a who's-who of representatives from production companies including Hat Trick, Avalon, Objective, Tiger Aspect and TalkBack Thames as well as Eyeworks CEO and former Head of Entertainment at BBC and ITV, Paul Jackson, and current BBC Head of Entertainment, Andy Brereton.

The judging panel was a feat of inspiration in itself, as it was made up of some of the biggest decision-makers in TV and radio comedy commissioning - Simon Lupton (Executive Editor, Comedy Commissioning, BBC TV), Michaela Hennessey-Vass (Commissioning Editor, Scripted Comedy, ITV), Shane Allen (Head of Comedy, Channel 4), Lucy Lumsden (Head of Comedy, Sky TV), Pete Thornton (Comedy Commissioner, Comedy Central), Jane Berthoud (Head of BBC Radio Comedy Production) and Tim Arthur (Comedy Editor, Time Out).
