Nick Frost to publish memoir in October

Nick Frost

Hodder & Stoughton is to publish a "dark, exhilarating and movingly honest" memoir from comic actor Nick Frost.

The company will publish Truths, Half Truths and Utter Bullshit on 8th October this year.

Frost starred in cult TV comedy Spaced, working with Simon Pegg, with whom he would go on to make the Cornetto Trilogy of films: Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

The actor grew up in a family blighted by alcoholism, illness and sudden misfortune. He left school early and drifted from job to job, dogged by his own personal demons, before pursuing an acting and writing career.

Hodder & Stoughton non-fiction publisher Hannah Black said: "You might expect Nick's memoir to be an actor's romp from movie set to movie set. But this is a very different sort of tale. Truths, Half Truths and Utter Bullshit is certainly funny. But it's also dark, exhilarating, and movingly honest. And it's written in the most vivid prose you will read for a long, long time. Nick has an extraordinary story to tell, and an extraordinary talent for telling it.

"This is no misery memoir. It's sad and painful in parts, but there is a sort of gratitude and love of life and people that runs through it that is kind of startling. You will not want to put it down. And you will miss Nick's singular voice when you do".

Frost said: "If I'm going to tell the story of a life, my life, then I need to tell it warts and all. If the tale is too saccharine sweet then what can the reader take away from it? What do they learn about you? I'm writing everything down. The shit, the death, fun, naughtiness, addiction, laughter, laughter, laughter, some tears and lots of love and happiness. That to me is a better reflection of a human's life."

Nick Frost - Truths, Half Truths & Little White Lies: A Memoir

By Nick Frost

"If I'm going to tell the story of a life, my life, then I need to tell it warts and all. If the tale is too saccharine sweet then what can the reader take away from it? What do they learn about you? I've written everything down. The shit, the death, fun, naughtiness, addiction, laughter, laughter, laughter, some tears and lots of love and happiness. That to me is a better reflection of a human's life."

Nick's family life was difficult, blighted by alcoholism, illness and sudden misfortune meaning they lost everything overnight. He left school early and drifted from job to job dogged by his own personal demons. It's something of a miracle that Nick survived and even more that he would achieve such success with his writing, acting and comedy.

In Truths, Half Truths & Little White Lies, Nick Frost paints a funny, moving and brutally candid portrait of childhood, adolescence and eventual success.
