Who Done It? has been newly remastered in high definition and will be released on Blu-ray.

The 1956 feature film marked the big screen debut of internationally acclaimed comic and actor Benny Hill.

Co-starring Belinda Lee, a DVD version has been available since 2007, but now a brand new HD remaster has been made, and will be released by Network Distribution on 17th August.

The film was also one of the final comedies made by Ealing Studios under its original management structures, and was the last comedy to be filmed at the studio after which the company took its name. The famous west London site was then sold to the BBC.

Directed by Basil Dearden (The Goose Steps Out, The League Of Gentlemen), the film sees Hill play an ice rink worker who comes into a small financial win that allows him to live out his dream of establishing his own private detective agency.

It was written by T.E.B. Clarke, whose credits include the acclaimed Ealing comedies The Titfield Thunderbolt, Passport To Pimlico, and The Lavender Hill Mob.

Network's new release will also include an image gallery, the film's original theatrical trailer, and The Waiters, a short film also starring Hill, from 1969.

Hill's career continued primarily on television, but he did also star in Light Up The Sky (1960) alongside Ian Carmichael and Tommy Steele, and made The Best Of Benny Hill in 1974, a compilation of sketches from his high-rating television programmes.

The Best Of Benny Hill

This hilarious compilation celebrates the unique talents of comedy superstar Benny Hill with an uproarious collection of the characters and sketches that made him a household name the world over!

This classic mix of comedy and song features Benny's regular cohorts Henry McGee, Bob Todd, Jackie Wright, Patricia Hayes and Nicholas Parsons - alongside the usual bevy of lovely ladies!

Released theatrically in 1974, The Best Of Benny Hill is featured here in a brand-new transfer from the original film elements.
