Ebury Publishing has announced a new book by comedian John Bishop.

One of Britain's top comedians, Bishop has penned How To Grow Old, which will be published in mid-October 2019. Hardback and ebook formats are now available to pre-order.

Described as "a beginner's guide to the inevitable", the "very funny handbook" will address "how to face the ravages of time", and follows his successful 2013 autobiography, How Did All This Happen? My Story.

They explain: "From how to stay fit and keep a social life, to how to not become an embarrassment, it's John with all the warm, observational wit that remains at the heart of his comedy, but with a refreshing honesty any reader will relate to."

The book's blurb explains: "Whether he likes it or not, John is getting older. His hair is greying, it's getting that much harder to stay fit, and the potential to become something of embarrassment is ever increasing. But hope is not lost.

"How To Grow Old is John's offering to the world. With sage advice on how to avoid the common pitfalls of age, intimate confessions and spit-your-dentures-out hilarious commentary on his own advancing years, this is his observational comic writing at its very best. If you were concerned about how not to be boring or how to get rid of your should-be-old-enough-to-manage kids, this the book has the answers."

Andrew Goodfellow, who acquired the book for Ebury, says: "We are very excited to have John join Ebury and I think this is going to be a lot of fun. John's comedy, which never strays far from his own life, is perfect for the page and as he heads boldly into his 50s he's got plenty to report back on what he has found."

John Bishop says: "I am very happy to be publishing my new book with Ebury. It's for anyone starting to feel the pull of time, so hopefully anyone from their 30s up will find something to relate to and laugh at. If not, you are pretending to still be 25, wearing the wrong clothes and dying your hair... so this book isn't really for you!"

Bishop's most recent live tour, Winging It, played to over 500,000 people across the UK and Ireland.

Not in the UK?

Fear not! Many items can still be ordered. Amazon in the UK delivers to many international territories, whilst their Australia, USA and Canada stores also supply many equivalent or imported items.

If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.

If you order from a UK store, please note that the UK is in Region 2 and B, respectively, for DVDs and Blu-rays - check your player's compatibility, or look for multi-region products if you are located in another region.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. The UK and Australasia are in the same Blu-ray region (B).
