Chris Bran and Justin Chubb, creators and stars of surrealist cult-hit sitcom This Is Jinsy, have released a new album of music.

Dubbing themselves The Jinsy Boys, the duo - who grew up together on Guernsey in the Channel Islands - have now published Tvignest, described as "an emotionally-draining canter through a moosical forest".

The album adds further to their colourful, inventive Jinsy world and its backstory of folk and cultural traditions.

Speaking to British Comedy Guide, Chris said: "Over the past few years Justin and I have been busy with various projects. As well as recording Tvignest, we've written a children's novel, Dad Droid, due for release in May 2019. We've also been adapting a classic novel set on our homeland of Guernsey, The Book Of Ebenezer Le Page by G.B. Edwards, for television."

The Jinsy Boys - Tvignest

[/link]The duo say: "Tvignest draws inspiration from the tune-well of ancient Jinsy folk-strumming and gullet-warbling. Recorded over a three cycle period using the latest both-ear technology, it takes us on an emotionally-draining canter through a dank moosical forest of twisty groves, dangly froots and leaf-drip."

Comprising of 13 tracks with titles such as Astro Veg, Three Colour Biro and Feelberries, the album continues in This Is Jinsy's vein of a slightly unsettling, surrealist alternative take on the world, drawing inspiration from folk music, mediaeval travelling minstrels, and "comedy influences from The Albion Band to Neil Innes, The Trio Bulgarka to The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Magnet's Wicker Man soundtrack".

The pair explain: "Tvignest moves from the Hillaire Belloc-like Cautionary Tales of Uncle Mushroom and Mr Mercurio - an ode to a ravenous pet moth in a music-hall style - to the bovine folk anthem 'Til The Cows; from the haunting title track Tvignest, sung in an ancient Jinsy dialect, to the foot-stomping I've Got Something and Three Colour Biro, a Balkan-esque lament to a dying pen, taking in other songs along the way such as Astro Veg, a psychedelic astrological prediction, String Vest, performed by an acapella allegedly-all-male choir, and the Opening Cermoni, a convoluted ritual involving the inhabitants of a small hamlet."

Tvignest is available to own now, as either digital download or in a limited edition CD release. Dad Droid has been crowd-funded on Penguin-owned publishing platform Unbound. More information can be found here.

The Jinsy Boys - Tvignest

Chris Bran & Justin Chubb (aka The Jinsy Boys) venture back to the outskirts of the distant isle with their long-awaited album, Tvignest, which draws inspiration from the tune-well of ancient Jinsy folk-strumming and gullet-warbling. Recorded over a three cycle period using the latest both-ear technology, Tvignest takes us on an emotionally-draining canter through a dank moosical forest of twisty groves, dangly froots and leaf-drip.

Chris and Justin are best known for creating and starring in Sky Atlantic's critically-acclaimed cult comedy, This Is Jinsy. Set on a fictional island, inspired by the Channel Island of Guernsey, where the two friends grew up, the sitcom ran for two series and was nominated for a British Comedy Award and an international Rose d'Or for Best Sitcom, featuring many musical set pieces amid the narrative, as well as two stand-alone music specials.

Chris and Justin have been performing and playing in bands since their early teens. The Jinsy Boys continues their partnership into musical territories, drawing on many British folk and comedy influences, from The Albion Band to Neil Innes, The Trio Bulgarka to The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and Magnet's Wicker Man soundtrack.
