Richard Herring

Richard Herring is to release a new Emergency Questions book, after signing a deal with a publishing company.

The comedian has already self-published two books based on the format of questions he asks in his hit Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, via indie distributors Go Faster Stripe. However, after signing a deal with publishing house Sphere, he will now release a new book, the biggest yet, in the shops.

Sub-titled "1001 conversation-savers for any situation", Emergency Questions will be released in shops in October. It will be published as a "highly giftable" hardback, featuring illustrations throughout. It will also include "answers from the many household names who've appeared on his hundreds of podcasts."

Example questions include "If you had to wear somebody's guts for garters - if you had to - who would you disembowel in order to facilitate your socks staying up?" and "What do you consider your median achievement?"

Publisher Adam Strange says: "I'm thrilled with this acquisition, having been a fan of Richard's work since Fist Of Fun over 20 years ago, and the opportunity to work with such a wonderfully creative and naturally comedic author is one that doesn't come round very often."

Herring added: "I am so excited that thanks to Sphere non-fiction my ridiculous, childish and occasionally accidentally deeply philosophical questions will be reaching a wider audience. I hope that it will lead to conversations between strangers on buses, successful first dates and ultimately world peace. But at the very least make your gran laugh 'til her false teeth pop out on Boxing Day."

Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast continues. The most recent episode, the 175th, features a notable interview with Brian Blessed which has received widespread praise on social media and YouTube. Listen

Emergency Questions will be released on the 4th October. It is available to pre-order via the link below.
