Joel Dommett has written a book about his relationship history.
The stand-up comedian will publish It's Not Me, It's Them: Confessions of a hopeless modern romantic in February 2018.
Publishers Headline explain: "Featuring genuine teenage diary entries and told in Joel's trademark self-deprecating style, this is the brilliant first book from the UK's most exciting comedian."
The promotional blurb for the title explains: "As a 17-year-old virgin working... for Virgin, Joel Dommett has grand ambitions. Firstly, he is going to swap suburbia for the bright lights of Showbiz. Secondly, he is going to find 'the one' - and sets himself the very achievable target of finding her in the first fifty people he's definitely going to sleep with.
"What follows is a series of disastrous romantic encounters, including carpets mistaken for toilets, futile grand gestures and the catfishing to end all catfishing."
The blurb suggests that Dommett will talk further in the book about how he was tricked into a situation where he was filmed masturbating during a Skype video call, the tape of which was later released on the internet without his consent when he refused to be blackmailed by those who had filmed him.
The fact he had been 'catfished' - duped by someone operating under a false identity - first came to light when he revealed the news as he appeared on ITV show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. He has since discussed the topic in a Facebook blog, and he jokes about it in his live show, which he is currently touring around the country.
Announcing the book on Twitter, Dommett said: "The news is... I had the discipline to not look at Instagram for a bit & wrote 80,000 words in a judgable cover."
In an official statement, he explained: "I'm so excited to have defied my English teachers' expectations and scribed a book that isn't mostly pictures. It will be released on February 8th in time for the sexiest day - Valentine's Day - and it will be the perfect gift for your loved one/lonely crying self. I honestly have never worked this hard on anything. Even harder than that time I made a bookshelf in DT with a glue gun. I've almost finished writing it and I really can't wait for you to read it! I've never been more proud of anything and I really loved that bookshelf."
Richard Roper from publishing house Headline says: "Joel is a comedian at the top of his game, and I'm delighted that Headline will be publishing his first book. When it comes to romance, he seems to have lived whatever the opposite of a charmed life is, and every story in this book is pure gold. Joel has brought all the skill and ingenuity of his stand-up shows to these pages, and the laughs come so thick and fast you have to stop to catch your breath."
