Dapper Laughs gets live DVD
Dapper Laughs is to get his own stand-up DVD.
Dapper Laughs Live: The Res-Erection will be released by Platform Entertainment later this year.
The character creation of comedian Daniel O'Reilly has proved highly controversial in the past 12 months, following the broadcast of his own comedy dating series on ITV2, Dapper Laughs: On The Pull, between September and November 2014.
Gaining fame on the internet through platforms including Facebook, Vine, Snapchat and Twitter, he was initially lauded as a success story of new comic talent being able to break through to mainstream attention based on self-published online content alone.
However, his TV series was roundly criticised by the media for apparent sexist attitudes, and amateur footage from live stand-up appearances was similarly derided when it appeared on YouTube. A brief discussion with one female audience member about rape draw particular ire from O'Reilly's critics, leading to a Newsnight appearance and the retirement of the character. Little more than a month later, O'Reilly announced that he would in fact continue to perform as Dapper Laughs despite opposition, apparently with "toned down" material.
Initially performing a one-off Res'Erection show in April, when the DVD is believed to have been filmed, a tour of Res-Erection is due to resume in October, following initial shows June.
