Tim FitzHigham on digging those odds

The furthest back I've gone so far is around [the year] 1450, and I've researched all the weirdest bets that I could find in the whole of human history from that point forward. I've looked at them and I've gone out and tried to win them.

Interview: Tim FitzHigham on The Gambler

Comedian Tim FitzHigham first performed his show The Gambler in 2011. As he starts a new UK tour of the show and a version is also playing on Radio 4, FitzHigham spoke to Glen Pearce about the show, the historical challenges and being the first person after Queen Victoria to have a toilet named after him.

Glen Pearce, The Reviews Hub, 8th February 2016

This slot was launched to make us all laugh on Sunday nights. Having rather failed in that ambition, it has now morphed into a corner to place oddities, a story here, a caper there. Here's bold comedian and adventurer Tim FitzHigham with the re-creation of a strange ducal wager from 1753, that a man could pass a written message over a distance of fifty miles in one hour. FitzHigham has to obey the 18th century limitations of the original bet on travel (no trains, planes, cars, buses, skates, etc, but maybe coaches or boats.) Can he do it?
