Welcome citizens, to Planet Mearns. Through stand-up and sketches the playfully accurate observational comic Raymond Mearns holds a mirror up to the world and guides the audience through his hilarious perception of the world we live in. In his first solo BBC radio comedy pilot, Raymond sets out to tackle modern day relationships.

This diverse, fast paced and ever changing world is a constant source of wonder and fascination for Raymond as he finds himself, at times, mystified by the words and actions of his fellow human beings - or "bams" as he likes to call them.

The central conceit of the show is simple; Raymond picks out an aspect of his life that he deals with so successfully in his stand-up career, and for this pilot episode he tackles the topic of relationships.

Raymond Mearns has been performing stand-up since 1996 and has been a full-time comedian and actor since 2003. His stand-up career includes several successful runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as overseas shows in New York, Australia & Europe and he is considered one of the strongest stand-up acts in the country.

His diverse acting CV has seen him directed by Ken Loach in Ae Fond Kiss and It's a Free World and cast in a range of successful comedies including Limmy's Show, Rab C Nesbitt and Legit.
