Radio 2 is to pilot a new comedy panel show about television soap operas.

A trial episode of Suds Law will be recorded next month. The show was devised by, and will be hosted by, actress and comedian Tracy-Ann Oberman (pictured), who is probably best known for playing Chrissie Watts, the murderer of iconic anti-hero Dirty Den in EastEnders.

Oberman appeared in shows like Comedy Nation, Big Train, and Lenny Henry In Pieces - plus various radio comedies - before taking a leading role in EastEnders in 2004. She departed the soap in December 2005 and, despite many acting roles since, is still strongly associated with the character of Chrissie Watts.

Suds Law will feature a range of guests - both comedians and soap stars - who will take part in various rounds celebrating the larger than life characters, storylines and clichés which make soap operas such popular entertainment.

Producers say that the show is aimed at "everyone from the weekly Coronation Street fan and former Dallas devotee, to those who claim to never have watched a soap in their life."

A pilot episode of the show will be recorded at BBC Radio Theatre on Sunday 11th December. To be in the audience see our free tickets page
