The nominations for ARIAS 2022, The Radio Academy's awards which focus on audio shows and podcasts, have been announced.

These awards feature a comedy-specific list, and the nominees for this category are listed below. Notably, three of the six productions up for the best comedy title this year are from Jon Holmes's production company, Unusual Productions.

The latest series of Radio 4 format Rhys James Is... saw the comedian investigating topics "that the rest of us are too busy to be bothered with."

This Unusual Productions series for Absolute Radio saw Shaun Keaveny narrating "utterly absurd fictional dramatisations of rock 'n' roll legends."

Another Unusual Productions nomination. The topical BBC Radio 4 format uses Radiophonic Workshop sounds to re-cut news footage.


The results will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday 3rd May at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

The Radio Times Moment of the Year category, to be voted for by the public via RadioTimes.com, will feature the footage of Adele Roberts returning to Radio 1 after bowel cancer treatment; Annie Mac's last show on Radio 1; Grado's Scotland Team Talk on Go Radio; Karen hearing her dad's song Little Girl on BBC Radio Newcastle; Mary winning £102,000 on Clyde 1; Naga Munchetty discussing her coil pain on Radio 5 Live; Patricia meeting her birth mother for her 100th birthday on BBC Three Counties Radio; Rachael Blackmore winning the Grand National, via talkSPORT; Reverend Cheryl Meban remembering Sarah Everard on BBC Radio Ulster; and Richard Osman revealing his food addiction on Desert Island Discs.
