A second series of The Likely Dads has been recorded, the Radio 4 show which "delivers a frank and funny conversation about what it is like to be a father in modern Britain."

The new episodes follow on from the success of the first run, which was broadcast in the winter of 2020.

Production company Made In Manchester has now recorded six new episodes, with Tim Vincent as host again, and Mick Ferry and Russell Kane reprising their roles as the regular panellists.

British Comedy Guide can reveal that the guests set to take part in the new series will include comedians Johnny Vegas, Nabil Abdulrashid, Alun Cochrane, Emmanuel Sonubi, Sanjeev Kohli, Dominic Holland and Pete Selwood.

Stand-up George Lewis, who recently released the book Don't Panic! All the Stuff the Expectant Dad Needs to Know, will also appear, as will Matt Coyne, who is best known for his Man vs Baby social media accounts and his best-selling books.

Also talking about fatherhood in the new series will be Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street; presenter Nihal Arthanayake; and Freddy McConnell, the transgender man who gave birth in 2018.

Producer Kurt Brookes says: "I'm really pleased that we got a second series of The Likely Dads, not just because it looks good on the old CV but because it means we get to tell more stories from dads across the country. And just because these dads have been on TV or radio it doesn't mean they've not been through the same experiences as the rest of us; George Lewis has to dodge dog-dirt on the school run, Emmanuel Sonubi has to juggle work and taking his kids on days out and Nihal Arthanayake has to struggle through helping his kids with their geography homework."

In an interview with British Comedy Guide to promote the first series, Tim Vincent spoke about bringing up his twin boys and the motivations for the show: "At its core, it's a chat between a group of dads... but some of our dads happen to be some of the funniest people in the country. It was born out of a need for dads to get together and chew the fat on what the paternal experience is actually like."

Series 2 of The Likely Dads is expected to begin on Radio 4 in April.
