An unbroadcast musical-based radio sitcom pilot starring the members of The Idiot Bastard Band has been released online.

In Transit was made for Radio 4 in 2013 but, for "various reasons", the subsequently commissioned series was indefinitely postponed. As a result, the already recorded pilot episode was never broadcast despite being fully edited and ready.

In Transit was written by and stars Adrian Edmondson, Neil Innes, Phill Jupitus and Rowland Rivron, who together sometimes perform live as The Idiot Bastard Band.

Recorded in front of an audience in October 2013, their radio comedy centres around some of the band's songs with linking scenes set in a TARDIS-like tour van.

The synopsis is as follows: "This band is a band in trouble. It has a name that cannot be said on radio and is on its uppers. The band struggles from small, under-attended gig to small, frequently cancelled gig and is constantly on the road. Constantly 'in transit'. But its bus is more like a tardis - a surreal bus with bedrooms upstairs, a lab at the back and, naturally, a wine cellar. The band lives in the bus all the time."

Producer Steve Doherty has now made the pilot available online for free on the website for his company, Giddy Goat Productions.
