Discussion-based radio station talkSPORT has picked up comedian Matt Forde's sport-themed comedy chat show.

The monthly mix of stand-up and chat, Matt Forde's Sports Party follows the success of the comic's similar Political Party format which exists as a live show and podcast.

A former employee of the Labour Party, Forde has connections within the political world, particularly on the left wing, and guests on Political Party have included George Galloway, Alan Johnson, Alastair Campbell and Jack Straw.

He has also appeared numerous times on programmes including Newsnight, This Week and Daily Politics.

Producers Avalon say of Sports Party: "The monthly comedy stand-up chat show will celebrate sports and some of its biggest personalities in the intimate and informal environment created at St James Theatre and is the first time talkSPORT has broadcast a show with this format."

The first episode will be recorded on Thursday 16th October for broadcast the following week, with Forde scheduled to be joined by "footballing legend" Jimmy Bullard and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Romesh Ranganathan.

Forde already hosts an overnight chat show on talkSPORT. He was most recently seen alongside his best friend and former flat-mate Jon Richardson in the Channel 4 documentary series Jon Richardson Grows Up, in which the pair spent a month travelling Britain in a bright orange camper van.
