At couples counselling, Clare and Brian are encouraged to share their interests. Sadly, apart from work, Clare realises she has no interests.

In their couple counselling, Clare and Brian announce that they have been together for twelve years. They have a relatively strong argument during one of their sessions and their counsellor suggests they start to share in each others interests in order to learn more about each other. They are told to take each other on a date to a place of particular interest to them, but Clare realises that she has no interests aside from work. Meanwhile at work, Irene has been promoted to team leader, which annoys Clare.

Simon suggests Brian should take Clare to something she will hate so they won't have to do it again. Brian takes Clare along to a football match hoping the plan will work, but it ends up with Clare enjoying the whole thing so much that she runs onto the pitch declaring a penalty and being banned for life. When it comes to Clare's turn to take Brian out, she takes him to a work home visit and into the office.

Ray is worried by his relationship with Troy, he is wondering whether his boyfriend can be trusted. Ray has been given a large inheritance and so is questioning whether Troy just wants him for his money. While Clare is in a meeting with a client at the office, Brian is put on the tea run. Clare has an interview with Mr Jakovljevic, a Serbian discussing his asylum application. An interpreter is present and is being very unhelpful... until the real interpreter rushes in apologising for being late. The imposter is the partner of Mr Jakovljevic. They are told the police will be sent if they don't leave, which they refuse. Clare and the real interpreter leave the two Serbian men in the office as they have other appointments. Brian goes in the office offering the two men a cup of tea and gets taken hostage by the Serbians. He is handcuffed to them.

Later that night, Clare has no choice but to sleep on the sofa while Brian, who has finally been released from the office, sleeps in bed... still attached to the Serbians!
