Series 2, Episode 6 - Doolah's Choice
Suggesting a change, Brian invites Clare to go with him to a comedy club, only for Clare to argue that comedy is too male-dominated and that woman are just as funny.
At the family centre, Clare speaks to her newest social worker student, Ben, who is already upset and frustrated on his first day. Meanwhile Ray has got a new boyfriend, an actor with a wife and three children. But Ray doesn't reveal the name of this highly prestigious actor.
Brian is practising his best man's speech for Helen and Simon's wedding, his only problem being that he keeps calling Helen 'Joyce'.
Clare meanwhile has agreed to let Megan have a home birth. Alone, Megan tells Clare that the father of her child went back to Peru and that she intends to care for her child as a single parent.
Helen has met up with an old flame and has agreed to go out with him to dinner the night before her wedding. Everyone thinks Helen is running away with the old flame and abandoning Simon. It is left up to Brian to tell Simon that Helen has broken off the wedding. However, Brian continues to delay the news until the early hours of the wedding day. He tries to play all of Megan's DVD collection to distract himself from explaining the news.
Helen arrives back the next morning at Clare's to tell her that she spent the evening with the old flame for the free expensive dinner in the restaurant. The wedding continues, but only after Brian has given the now out-of-date news to Simon.
During the wedding service, Megan announces that her water has broken, and Brian and Clare rush her to hospital. They are confident that the baby won't be born in the back of the car, as that only happens in sitcoms...
The baby is born in the car. After planning on calling the baby Clare, Megan settles for Brenda.
