Series 2, Episode 2 - Relax
Clare and Brian decide to go on a week's holiday and are at home choosing their destination. Clare visits Amnesty International for holiday recommendations but, to her surprise, they don't offer any brochures. Meanwhile Brian visits a jewellers shop to get an engagement ring as he plans to propose while on holiday.
At the family centre, Helen has become more abusive as a result of her attempt to stop smoking. When Clare arrives at the office, it becomes clear everyone can't wait for her to leave for her holiday because they have each got her brochures in advance.
At the pub, Brian shows Simon the engagement ring, telling him that marrying Clare is no laughing matter.
Back at the office, Megan, Irene and Ray are arguing about Helen, because she is becoming insufferable without nicotine. They decide to try and make her take up smoking again. But it turns out Helen had already started again, she is being annoying just for fun.
Clare and Brian arrive at Poldark Cottage in Cornwall. The advantage for Brian being that there is no phone in the cottage and Clare can't get reception on her mobile, thus she cannot phone the office. A fox hunt is taking place nearby and the fox escapes into the backdoor of their cottage. The man organising the chase asks if they could chase the fox back outside. Clare, against fox hunting, argues until she notices the signal on his mobile phone - she is prepared to make a deal of borrowing the man's phone while they release the fox.
Later during their holiday, Clare and Brian walk along the Cliffside where Brian plans to propose. Clare suddenly gets a signal on her phone and Brian, not wanting her to answer it, throws the phone over the cliff.
Clare arrives back at the office early, explaining why they're back so early: Her mobile hit a baby seagull in mid-flight and the angry mother attacked Brian on the head. As Brian fell over the cliff edge he landed astride of a single branch. He then caught pneumonia. What then followed was that the winch on helicopter the eventually saved him broke, and thus he fell into the sea.
Back at Clare and Brian's flat, Brian tells Simon that he was glad not to propose, and is happy with the way things are. Simon then tells him that he has asked Helen to marry him.
