BCG Pro Talent Awards: Performance

BCG Pro Talent Awards: Performance

The BCG Pro Talent Award for Performance runs from August to October each year.

What is it?

We want to find and encourage the best new and upcoming stand-ups, sketch groups, live character acts and other comic performers operating in the United Kingdom. For the first stage of this contest we'd like you to submit a video (or audio) clip of you performing, for the consideration of our judging panel.

The judges will invite five acts to battle it out in our live final (14th December 2023) where the winner will be decided. BCG Pro Starter members can also enter this contest - the winner in this case will be determined via the video entries, and they will be invited to perform a set at the final.

Previous winners

The 2020 contest was won by Brandon Burke.

The 2021 contest was won by Justina Seselskaite.

The 2022 contest was won by James Murphy.

The 2023 contest was won by Kit Loyd.

What can I win?

Aside from bragging rights, shortlisted finalists will be showcased here at British Comedy Guide and to the industry in BCG Pro. Prizes for the main winner will include expert coaching and one-to-one mentoring. The BCG Pro Starter member with the best entry will also receive mentoring and advice.

Who can enter?

This competition is open to BCG Pro members who live in the UK. As we're looking to shine a light on up-and-coming talent, this competition is not open to those who perform regularly on TV and/or radio, or who already have a big enough audience to tour large (200+ seat) rooms as the only act. Essentially, sorry, but if your name is Tom Allen you're too established to enter!

How do I enter?

You just need to submit a video or audio submission: ideally a recording made at a live gig - but if you don't have a tape of you in action, a recording in your bedroom is fine. Video is preferred if available.

Each BCG Pro member may submit one entry to the contest, either by themselves as an individual or on behalf of a partnership or group. We recommend a run-time of circa 5-minutes for your clip.

Simply fill in our entry form with the requisite details.

The entry form opens on 1st August and closes at 23:59 on 31st October each year.

Rules

Our judges will pick five BCG Pro members to take part in the live final, based on digesting up to 5 minutes of their material as submitted. The judging panel will pick an overall winner based on the performances at the live final.

The judges viewing the submitted entries will also pick a BCG Pro Starter winner, who will be invited to perform at the live final.

The live final will take place in London on Thursday 14th December 2023, at the Museum Of Comedy. Travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.

The BCG Pro Starter member who wins will be offered mentoring and advice, achieved by pairing them up with an industry expert or experienced comedian. The BCG Pro member who wins will also be offered mentoring, advice and coaching from experienced professionals.

Each BCG Pro subscriber can submit one recording for consideration. You may use your entry opportunity to submit individually or on behalf of a team/collective.

Any material can be submitted, provided there is a web link to it. However, judges will not have time to view sets longer than 5 minutes in length. You may wish to edit and submit highlights accordingly.

All entries must be the original material of the entrant, and must not infringe the rights of any other party.

This award is for up-and-coming talent, and thus performers who regularly work on television and/or radio, or who can run a tour of large venues (200+ seats) as the sole act, cannot be considered. Do get in contact if you'd like to check your eligibility.

You must reside in the UK to enter this competition. Whilst you may enter this competition if you are under 18 years old, please be aware there may be venue age restrictions in place.
