Hot Water Comedy Club is to open a new venue in Manchester.

The club, which launched in Liverpool in 2010, has proved to be a big success story in the city, expanding to two purpose build comedy clubs over the last 9 years. It now regularly sells out seven nights a week.

Hot Water is noted for using social media well to promote its nights. The linked YouTube channel, which features highlights from comedians' sets at the club, has now gained nearly 20 million views. Across all their socials, they've notched up over 200 million views this year alone.

Using its social media power, the club has also promoted a nationwide sell out tour for their resident compere, Paul Smith (pictured), too.

The new Manchester venue will officially open on Thursday June 6th. Hot Water Comedy Club Manchester will be located at Theatre Impossible at 36 Peter Street, M2 5QR.

The organisers say: "Recently the club has won a whole host of industry accolades, including three awards for Best Comedy Club and two for best social media channel. Our new Manchester show will run weekly on a Thursday night, and we're excited about the challenge of living up to their rapidly growing reputation."

Co-founder Paul Blair comments: "Our ethos is simple. We bring the best acts in the country right to your doorstep. From well established names to famous faces, we work hard to create an unforgettable night of comedy, and people have really bought into that. I can't wait to show the people of Manchester what we're all about. Expect the biggest and best acts from the UK and beyond!"

As the club itself notes, competition in Manchester is notoriously fierce, with a number of other established clubs - including The Comedy Store, The Frog And Bucket and XS Malarkey - operating in the city. However, the Hot Water team are confident, saying "You wouldn't bet against Hot Water Comedy Club making a huge impact on the city for many years to come."
