Here's an hour-long video in which Meghan Cruz and Jon Petrie discuss pitching and developing television sitcoms.

Meghan Cruz works as a script development executive for independent production company Baby Cow Productions, whilst Jon Petrie is a commissioning editor for comedy at Channel 4.

EDIT: In August 2020 it was revealed that Petrie was leaving Channel 4. He's now working for Charlie Brooker's production company Broke & Bones.

This talk, hosted by writer Hal Branson, was conducted via Zoom in May 2020, during the height of the coronavirus lockdown. It was organised as part of the BFI Network Live series of webinars.

Amongst many other things, the duo discuss how it's the characters and ideas that are really important in sitcom, how to approach producers with your projects, and the ideal way to pitch your show.
