The importance of jokes

Seems obvious, doesn't it? Sitcoms need jokes. Yet you'd be surprised how many scripts are submitted to competitions or land on producers' desks with no obvious signs of comedy at all.

"But my script is amusing, " you might protest. "The comedy will come from the performances."

No. Sorry.

Your script needs actual jokes. And lots of 'em.
