The Comedy Doctor on mentioning brands

The Comedy Doctor. Credit: BCG

A member asks: I've just realised my script contains brand names. For example, there's a scene set in a Burger King. I picked that brand as one of the characters makes a joke about kings. Do I need to change my script? For example, should I make it Beef King? It'd be nice to have the real brands as viewers will be familiar with them, but if it's just not practical...?

Thank you for your question! This is an issue newer writers sometimes worry about, but I'm happy to tell you it's really not something you need to concern yourself...
