Simon Donald - Comic To Comic

Simon Donald co-founded Viz Comic, Britain's publishing sensation of the 1980s. In December 2009 he celebrated the birth of the fart-gag riddled giggle-rag with a series of sell out one-man shows at Newcastle's Live Theatre. Captured here on Simon's first DVD release is the show that took place on the 30th anniversary of the magazine's humble launch at a punk gig in a local pub.

Meet the outrageous creations that have taken Donald's character creativity from page to stage - Barry Twyford market research dogsbody, whose bizarre survey raises more questions than it answers, Bingo from Benton drunken street philosopher and charmless aggressor, Jeremy Jitler novice comedian lacking a sense of humour, Rich Kestrel Cockney motormouth and 'supplier' to the stars, and Dominic Farquhar first year medic, the funniest guy on his whole landing. In fact, He's probably the funniest guy in the whole on Mandela Halls, actually.

The show begins with an illustrated talk of anecdotes telling Simon's own story of the birth of Viz and its unprecedented rise to dizzy heights, capturing some of the funniest moments in his esteemed comedy writing career.

Oh, and on the extras he pisses his pants.

The footage on the DVD was filmed for a documentary on Simon, and although it looks fine - it does zoom in and out a bit.

First released: Tuesday 23rd August 2011

Not in the UK?

Fear not! Many items can still be ordered. Amazon in the UK delivers to many international territories, whilst their Australia, USA and Canada stores also supply many equivalent or imported items.

If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.

If you order from a UK store, please note that the UK is in Region 2 and B, respectively, for DVDs and Blu-rays - check your player's compatibility, or look for multi-region products if you are located in another region.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. The UK and Australasia are in the same Blu-ray region (B).
