Five thousand enthusiasts going to gigs, reading books, dowloading podcasts and watching DVDs. Keep feeding these devotees new product and they'll never leave you. They are all powerful and without them there would be no Daniel Kitson. Indie comedy outfit Go Faster Stripe, has adopted this idea as a business model.

Christmas telly these days isn't a patch on what it used to be. Those great stars of yesteryear - the family entertainers who kept us glued to our sets for hours each night back in the seventies - are now no longer on our screens. Sadly, many have passed on to that great BBC canteen in the sky, whilst even more of them are banged up in prison or under investigation for historic sex offences. Even so, there are still plenty of great programmes on to keep us watching over the festive season.
