Yet you would never have guessed there had been such unprecedented disruption from the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Award on Monday night, with the young acts providing as strong a line-up as ever.

Total respect to the ten finalists. Over 450 acts entered and this time heats had to take place via Zoom. So when it came to stepping onto the stage after MC Mark Watson's warm introductions they were doing it with minimal stage time under their belts.

Chortle Student Comedy Award final to finally happen

Postponed from last year and moved from its usual Edinburgh Fringe home, the event will now take place at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London on September 20, and will be hosted by Mark Watson.
